Sabah’s own version of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme offers three categories - Silver, Gold and Platinum - each with distinct eligibility criteria, and only the Platinum tier grants the right to work. The basic conditions are as follows:

 

1.    Age Requirement

Applicants must be at least 25 years old.

 

2.    Eligible Dependents

Spouse (husband or wife); biological, step‑ or adopted children under 21 years old; and parents or parents‑in‑law.

 

3.    Qualified Residence Investment in Sabah

-     Must purchase a high‑rise condominium. Minimum value: RM600,000 overall; RM1 million for Silver and RM2 million for Platinum.

-     The property must be held for ten years, though it may be swapped for another qualifying unit.

 

4.    Offshore Monthly Income (last three months)

-     Single applicant: RM10,000 or more.

-     Couple or family: RM15,000 or more.

 

5.    Fixed‑Deposit Requirements (any Sabah bank)

-     Silver: RM500,000

-     Gold: US $500,000

- Platinum: US $1 million

 

6.    Minimum Physical Presence

At least 30 days per year must be spent in Sabah.

 

7.    Employment Permission

Only Platinum‑category holders may be employed in Malaysia.

 

8.    Fixed‑Deposit Withdrawal Rules

Up to 50 % of the deposit may be withdrawn after one year for purposes such as buying a property, education fees, or medical treatment.

 

9.    Visa Validity

-     Silver: 5 years

-     Gold: 10 years

-     Platinum: 20 years

All the MM2H visas are renewable.

 

10.   Principal Transfer

The primary visa holder may transfer the principal to a spouse, provided the transfer occurs before the visa expires.
